Launched in 2014, The Bronx Hot Sauce was the first product to be released by Small Axe Peppers. They began by working with roughly thirty Bronx community gardens, providing them with serrano pepper seeds and then buying the peppers back once they were harvested. As such, they wanted to ensure that their branding, messaging and packaging was not only reflective of an organic, locally sourced product but that it would also stand out on the shelves of Whole Foods and other stores where it’s sold.
As they’ve grown to become a national brand, now partnering with more than 100 non-profit community gardens in 15 cities across The United States, their product offerings have also expanded. Since creating the original logo and package design, I continue to handle all of the brand’s visual identity and packaging designs.
